About AirMates

AirMates is a friends-first, mutual location-sharing web app. Use it only with people who knowingly choose to connect with you.

Service availability

AirMates is offered for personal use, free of charge. The service is provided "as is" and "as available". It may change, become temporarily or permanently unavailable, contain bugs, or have features added, modified, limited, or removed at any time without notice. Using AirMates does not create any uptime, performance, or feature-availability commitment from us to you. This does not affect the safety and moderation commitments described in "Reporting and content removal". You are free to use AirMates if it is useful to you, and free to stop at any time.

Pricing and future paid features

AirMates is free for personal use today. In the future we may introduce paid features, subscriptions, or other pricing to help support continued operation of the service. If we do, we will tell you in advance, and you will never be charged without your explicit agreement. Some features that are free today may become paid in the future; if that happens, you will see a clear notice and can choose whether to subscribe or stop using those features.

Who can use AirMates

You must be at least 18 years old to create an AirMates account. AirMates is not designed for or directed at minors, and accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 will be removed.

Your account

Your AirMates account is personal to you. Do not share your sign-in credentials, and do not let anyone else use your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

Acceptable use

You may not use AirMates to stalk, harass, intimidate, coerce, or unlawfully monitor anyone. You may not track another person without their meaningful, ongoing, freely-given consent. Coercion is not consent.

You also agree not to: impersonate others, create multiple accounts to evade restrictions or deceive other users, scrape or automate access to AirMates, resell the service, attempt to bypass security, reverse engineer the app, or use it for any commercial purpose without our written permission. AirMates is for personal use between people who knowingly choose to connect. Do not use AirMates to monitor employees, contractors, family members, or anyone else who has not freely and knowingly agreed to share their location with you.

Information about other users

Information you can see about another AirMates user — including their handle, profile, sharing mode, shared location, and any destination they have set — is made available to you only because they chose to connect with you. You agree not to forward, publish, screenshot, post, or otherwise share that information with anyone outside of AirMates without that user's explicit consent, and not to keep records of their movements or travel plans derived from AirMates. If you'd like to introduce two friends, ask the friend to share their own handle directly — do not share it on their behalf.

Finding other users

AirMates only shows you information about people you are connected with. The in-app search lets you look up another user by their AirMates username or by their display name, and only so you can send them a connection request. It is not a directory, a people-finder, or a way to browse strangers. Do not ask us to look up, identify, locate, or share details about a person you are not connected with on AirMates. We will not.

You agree not to use the search to enumerate, guess, scrape, or probe for usernames; not to use it to locate, contact, or surface anyone who has not freely given you their AirMates handle; and not to use it as a workaround for a connection that someone has declined or removed. If you want to find someone, ask them directly for their AirMates handle.

Other AirMates users can find you in search by your AirMates username or by your display name. There is no opt-out for this today, because a small friends-first app needs people to be able to find each other to be useful. Once a connection exists, you stay in control through audience choices: AllMates and InnerMates let you decide who sees what, and you can decline, remove, or block any connection at any time. If we ever introduce broader discovery or profile-visibility features, for example friend suggestions, contact import, or showing your profile photo to people you have not connected with, we will tell you in advance and ask you to accept updated terms before they take effect. You can change your display name in Settings at any time.

Connections

Connections on AirMates are mutual — both people choose to connect, and either person can end the connection at any time. Once a connection ends, no new sharing reaches the other person. Anything previously shared (such as the last location your friend saw) may remain on their device until it expires or they remove it.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for who you connect with, what you choose to share, and when you turn sharing on or off. If someone removes you, stops sharing, or asks you not to contact or track them, respect that choice immediately. You also agree to use AirMates only in ways that are lawful where you are.

Your profile content

Your display name and username are visible to anyone who searches for them in AirMates so they can send you a connection request. Your profile photo is shown only to people you have connected with. By uploading a profile photo, you confirm you have the right to use it and you grant AirMates permission to display it to your connections.

Reporting and content removal

AirMates does not tolerate objectionable content (including pornographic, hateful, threatening, harassing, or unlawful material) or abusive behavior toward other users. You can report any AirMates user from their profile in the Friends area, and you can block any user at any time. Reporting and blocking are independent of each other — you can do either, both, or neither.

We review every report and act on it within 24 hours. Action may include removing or hiding content, requiring the user to change a name or photo, suspending the account, or permanently banning the user. When a profile photo is reported as inappropriate, it is hidden automatically and immediately while we review, so you do not have to keep seeing it.

Not an aviation service

AirMates is a social app for friends. Although it lets you share that you are near a particular airport, it is not a flight-tracking, air-traffic, dispatch, navigation, or any other kind of aviation operational or safety service. Do not rely on AirMates for any aviation or flight-related decision.

Not for emergencies

Do not rely on AirMates for emergencies, search and rescue, medical situations, or any safety-critical decision. Locations may be stale, delayed, approximate, or incorrect. In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency services directly.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms or appear to put others at risk. We will explain the reason where we can. If you believe a suspension is a mistake, email us at AirMates.app@gmail.com. You can delete your own account at any time from Settings.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as AirMates evolves. When changes are material, we will ask you to accept the new version inside the app before you continue using it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AirMates and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. AirMates is provided without warranties of any kind.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the AirMates founder is established. We will update this section with a specific jurisdiction in a future update.

Miscellaneous

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms are the complete agreement between you and AirMates regarding the service. If we don't enforce a right immediately, we don't lose it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if AirMates is acquired or restructured.
